Thief's Market Announced from Tasty Minstrel Games **Updated**

The Kickstarter is now live! There is an Early Bird Backers special that includes sleeves and Stretch Goals that will allow more cards, Start Player Meeple, and metal coins. Check it out!

Tasty Minstrel Games has announced a new dice game - Thief's Market! This is from designer Dave Chalker and set in the same world as Harbour so TMG is continuing on this popular theme. This will be available through Kickstarter in January, 2016, with an official release through regular channels around GenCon 2016. We'll also update this article with the Kickstarter link once it's active. Here's a quick look at the game play from Dice Tower News:
On each turn in this fast dice game, 3-5 players will roll the dice and take turns claiming what they want from the dice pool as loot (or stealing from each other). After all players have loot, they then are able to purchase useful cards with special abilities using any “gems” claimed. “Yellow coin sacks” provide currency to be used later in the form of “wild gems”, and purple masks provide players with victory points.
An email blast earlier this month also announced Thief's Market with some more images and details. Michael tells us:
Our goal is to be able to deliver the game to you via Send From China (with double-bubble protection like on Harbour) straight from China to arrive 6-8 before GenCon so that we can comfortably release the game at GenCon 2016 (and hopefully sell tons there).
Our target MSRP is $20 USD, and we will have a deal on the Kickstarter project (still working out the details). We have some ambitions surrounding making this game as awesome as humanly possible. We are just a little bit unsure if we will be able to do it all... Hence Kickstarter...

Z-Man Games Announces Archaeology: The New Expedition

Z-Man Games has announced a new game - Archaeology: The New Expedition - being released January, 2016. This is actually a redesign to the original Archaeology: The Card Game released in 2007. The update brings an ability to play with 2-5 players, new illustrations, and refreshed variants to the game play. They've brought in Atha Kanaani to update the original artwork so it has a bit more modern look and feel compared to it and Z-Man Games has also added new artifacts to the mix to compliment the added variants. This game looks great and I really like the new, updated look. Hopefully some game reviews will pop up so we can get a feel for the game play. Here's a look at some of the cards and game setup that Z-Man Games posted in their release article.

Munchkin Playmat, Expansions Coming in April

Steve Jackson Games has issued release information for the month of April for the Munchkin and Chez Geek lines. While no specific dates are given, SJG has confirmed that Chez Geek Spring Break, Munchkin 6.5: Terrible Tombs, and Munchkin Puppies will be released in April. This confirms what we saw a month ago. What's extremely exciting is the fourth item on the announcement - a Munchkin Playmat!

Spyke Gets Suckered

Flower Cashes In

This. Is. Awesome! I can't say enough on it and can't wait to get my hands on this. This playmat will measure 14" x 28" and lets you keep track of your level, place your cards in an orderly fashion, and has some great artwork from Ian McGinty and Edwin Huang. The measurements look large enough to keep yourself comfortably organized and, in true Munchkin fashion, each mat will let you do an extra bonus. The Spyke mat lets you Cheat! one item per game while the Flower mat adds extra gold to each item you sell. The mats are retailing for $16.95 each but they look well worth it.

Mayfair Games Sells Catan License to Asmodee

Mayfair Games announced this morning that they have sold the license for the English language publishing and sales rights of Catan to Asmodee North America. Asmodee North America has formed their newest creative unit with this - Catan Studios, Inc. It will be exciting to see where Asmodee North America will take the Catan series now. Asmodee North America's recent acquisition of Days of Wonder and Fantasy Flight Games makes this a huge move in the gaming market, as well. They now own a large collection of licensing rights to be able to produce more games and, hopefully, bring great content to our tables. Is it to much, though? Hopefully they can bring new and exciting content to already great games but please don't saturate the market with 100+ different versions of the same game (looking at you, Monopoly). What do you think of the latest acquisition?

Sneak Peak at Munchkin Knights

Well, well, well. Steve Jackson Games just had a nice surprise to show up on Twitter this afternoon. An image of Munchkin Knights all packaged up was snapped and shared. We haven't heard much on this at all so it was a very pleasant surprise to see this come across the Twitter-verse. No information other than this image and that it was with Production, though. Hrmmmm.....
